Listen with your heart
To the beautiful sounds of ‘Quam Dilecta” a piece of our treasured sacred music, and on a stunning autumn morning, we began the Jubilee Celebration of the Sisters of Mercy, Brisbane Congregation, at All Hallows’ Chapel for our Jubilarians for 2019.
Sisters Valda Cervetto, Regis Mary Dunne and Mary Tutin celebrated their Platinum Jubilee, Sisters Anne McDonnell, Patricia McGovern, Mary Murphy and Margaret O’Donoghue celebrated their Diamond Jubilee, and Sisters Dolores Creevey, Catherine Hefferan, Maureen Keenan, Kay Lane, Mary Lawson, Sandra Loth, Sandra Lupi and Carolyn Steiner all celebrated their Golden Jubilee. We welcomed Father Gerry Hefferan as Celebrant of Eucharist – brother to Catherine, and friend to many.
In the readings of the day the Jubilarians heard the invitation “to remain faithful to the grace God had given them” and the promise that “no one can take a follower of Jesus out of God’s hand. With a deep sense of gratitude we give thanks for these faithful women, and we praise God’s faithfulness to these women of mercy – our sisters.
The celebrations then moved to Mercy Place at Bardon where a beautifully prepared celebration meal was served and enjoyed, along with many stories and much conversation.
